Can I become a software engineer being RED-GREEN colourblind ?

I was recently diagnosed with minor red-green colour blindness , I was selected in a very reputed college for computer science and engineering , should I and can I pursue this stream or should I drop an year and prepare for other streams ? Will me being colour blind handicap my progress , as I am very ambitious and want to be exemplary in my field ?
