What to do with my ipod touch?

ok so my ipod had a lot of extra stuff on it i no longer wanted so i restored it (used the restore on the ipod not from itunes but when you go into settings and restore everything) so i did that and it showed a logo with a loading bar, took about 45 minutes to complete then a apple startup icon turned on and the loading wheel.. waited about ten minutes and it went black then did the loading wheel again.. it has been doing this for a while so i decided to hold the wake/sleep and home button to manually turn it off but that doesnt seem to be working (its also not popping up on my itunes) what can i do?
