Will the drive work or not?

My cd rom drive stoped working and I backed it up. Later on my pc got messed up and I took it to the shop, now the cd drive is working now. Since I backed up my pc during the time the cd drive wasn't working, when I decide to restore my pc will the drive go back to not working or will it continue to work as new.
